La estética es más familiar para mí que el Ubuntu de vainilla, además uso una tonelada de aplicaciones KDE como Krita y Kdenlive que se sienten nativas aquí. Sin embargo, lo más importante para mí es que hay una extensión de KDE para fondos de pantalla en vivo que también se siente nativa. Funciona a la perfección en varios escritorios y no tiene problemas con los efectos del compositor, a diferencia de los intentos anteriores. No a todos les gusta el video como fondo de escritorio, pero es una buena característica que potencialmente puede mejorar sustancialmente la experiencia de escritorio. Por ejemplo, alguien nuevo en Linux podría tener un video en su escritorio que resalte los atajos de teclado o muestre comandos útiles para el terminal. Desafortunadamente, muchas de las extensiones de KDE están ahora con errores o tienen la edad suficiente para que ya no funcionen.
KDE también parece tener algunos problemas adicionales con errores que Gnome no comparte. Al menos para mí, todo ha mejorado drásticamente desde los primeros días de KDE. El simple Ubuntu simplemente me recuerda a un determinado producto de Borland de los años 90 llamado 'Turbo Vision', lo que era un sistema de desarrollo basado en DOS caracterizado por una barra de información en la parte superior e inferior de la pantalla. Pero Ubuntu con KDE es otro mundo: parece Como Windows, la misma sensación: moderna y práctica.
