Description

Slackware is a Unix-like operating system and one of the oldest Linux distributions still actively maintained. It is known for its stability, simplicity, and adherence to the UNIX philosophy. Slackware is free and open source software and is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License. It is maintained and developed by Patrick Volkerding and a small team of volunteers. Slackware is designed to be highly customizable, allowing users to tailor the system to their specific needs. Slackware comes with a wide variety of software, including the X Window System, the KDE and GNOME desktop environments, a variety of command-line tools and utilities, and a large collection of applications. Slackware also includes the SlackBuilds.org repository which provides additional packages created by the community.
