Banshee is an open-source, cross-platform audio and music player application. It is available for Linux, Windows, and macOS. It supports playing and managing audio and video files, as well as playing radio streams and Internet radio. It also has a library-style interface, which allows users to organize their music and video files into collections, and it can synchronize music with iPods, iPhones, and other portable media players. It also offers podcast and audiobook support, as well as an equalizer and support for custom skins. Banshee also supports many different audio formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, and WAV.
This is not a media organizer like Banshee was. It's a great media player, but it's not really a replacement for Banshee.

VLC Media Player is a media player. It is very good at that. Banshee is more than that. Banshee is a way to organize many types of media and access them all in a single interface. It's really more of a media organizer and a player in one. VLC really isn't a replacement for it.
