MPC-HC is a video player, not a dedicated music player by any stretch. It's also ugly as sin, so it's the opposite of a music player like Winamp that has a huge library of skins.

Clementine has integration with Last.Fm, better visual aesthetics (in my opinion), song fingerprinting to find tags, and is cross-platform.
MPV is a movie player. Movie players are not dedicated, library-based music players.

Winamp was a lightweight, customizable and robust media player that supported multiple formats and audio, unlike iTunes.
iTunes is and always has been software intended only for Mac users and/or Apple device compatibility. No customization, limited functionality for media playback, and limited codec and format support. Windows users are better off sticking with Winamp or foobar2000.
It works very well. The only alternative to iTunes that compares to it is VLC.
Linux doesn't have many Winamp clones, but this is very close.
