Nextcloud's approach is to be secure (2 factor authentication). PS: there is a better app store in Nextcloud and the apps are more compatible and get more updates.

Syncthing is a p2p system owncloud is a centralized storage server system.
If your purpose is to synchronize your files between multiple devices, both ownCloud and Syncthing are good choices. Beyond the fact that they are quite different, ownCloud has other functionality that Syncthing does not have.
