NVU (formerly known as Nvu) is a free, open source software application used for creating and maintaining websites. It provides web developers and designers with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface for creating and editing web pages, as well as a wide range of features for developing web applications and interactive websites. NVU is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. NVU is designed to be easy to use, with a drag-and-drop interface and a range of features that allow users to create professional-looking websites quickly and easily. It features an integrated HTML and CSS editor, a web-based FTP client, a link and image manager, a spell checker, a site search engine, and support for multiple languages. It also includes an extensive library of pre-made templates, as well as support for custom templates. The software also includes a range of tools for creating forms, tables, and other web elements. Additionally, NVU offers a range of advanced features, including support for JavaScript, ActiveX, and Flash.
Discontinued Aptana is still under development on GitHub but the latest version, 3.6.1, was released in October 2014. It lacks Java 8/9 features, as well as more recent JavaScript and HTML 5 features.
