It is an ide, but not made for front-end.
There is no way to preview or format the contents using the preview. You use vi + LaTeX instead, at least it works as documented.

Discontinued Aptana is still under development on GitHub but the latest version, 3.6.1, was released in October 2014. It lacks Java 8/9 features, as well as more recent JavaScript and HTML 5 features.
Best of all is probably its active community.
Dreamweaver is made for designers. It is a WYSIWYG editor and Coda is a text editor.
You can do much more in WebStorm than in Dreamweaver!

Very poor HTML that helps macros, without any simple common error detection. No preview at all. The only good thing is that it is the only open source HTML editor where code highlighting works, but Dreamweaver has a few more features. A lot more.

This is the only open source program that ATTEMPTS to be like Dreamweaver. It has a very small amount of features, but the core features like live preview or split mode are present. Unfortunately, the plugin API is intentionally complicated so that users buy plugins and not write their own.

Like Dreamweaver, Kompozer is a program created to help us create websites.
It is an excellent design tool for people who are not the best in HTML.

This is more JS IDE than the normal page editor. Writing any page containing text is difficult, as it doesn't allow you to focus on the text. One good thing: HTML highlighting works very well.
