Groove Basin is an open-source music player application for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. It provides the user with an intuitive, customizable interface for playing, managing, and discovering music. Groove Basin focuses on music ownership; users can manage local music files and also connect to online music services (like SoundCloud, Bandcamp, etc.). It allows users to create playlists and shuffle music. Features include: support for audio formats (mp3, ogg, flac, etc.), automatic tag editing, Last.fm scrobbling, and customizable key bindings. Groove Basin provides an easy-to-use interface that makes it simple to explore and find new music.
The discontinued musikcube was actively developed by Casey Langen between 2003 and 2006. It is now an abandoned open source project, but the latest version, 1.1, and the source code can still be downloaded from the official website.
Discontinued No new releases and features since 2014. The most recent versions, 2.6.2 (stable) and 2.9.1 (development), released in February and March 2014, still work and can be downloaded from the official website.
