QuickTime Alternative is a useful software application that provides an alternative to Apple's QuickTime media player. It is able to read and play QuickTime files, but without the need to install Apple's official software. It also includes additional features such as support for various audio and video codecs, improved playback of Windows Media Video (WMV) files, and the ability to play back DivX and XviD video. It is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems and is free to download.

Discontinued The currently active fork is Media Player Classic Home Cinema, but MPC can still be downloaded from FreeCodec.com.
