Very advanced program that is absolutely free, the only drawback is that it is not as light as SAI.

I usually use it and I really like the way the lines look. But now it's a bit complicated to deal with all the brushes and drawing in digital programs.
I've been using for years to illustrate, and it doesn't take long to find where the right brushes are. However, some of the few things I wish they would improve is the magic tool and the lasso tool.
It has most of the functions that SAI has.
Firealpaca is much easier to use! It's easier to find your way around and it's completely free for mac and windows! It's also great because it has regular updates, so you know it's always going to get better. You can animate it and use masks, references and palettes.
Easy to get started, and very easy to use. It may not sync very well but it's a lot of fun to play with.
Not as many functions as PaintTool SAI
files do not seem to be compatible with publication in deviant art, has a small learning curve

I've never used PaintTool SAI, but I love ibis Paint X because there are multiple layers, lots of tools and a custom color picker. Plus, it saves your speedpaint for you.
The application is very functional :) So many brushes and options. Maybe at first everything is a bit complicated, but if you get used to it, it is very easy and effective. There is also the possibility to learn so many drawing methods and styles with the new features and even with other artists. I definitely recommend this application: 3
It is definitely not in any way similar to Paint Tool Sai, there are far fewer tools to work with.
There are multiple layers and pretty good pencils.
Microsoft announced that Paint is officially discontinued with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. However, the latest version of the program will still be usable in Windows 10.
Non-layered and not as powerful as SAI
I don't think it's the best, but technically you can use layers using the color layer trick.
Discontinued They are still promoting it on their website, but have stopped development and no longer provide technical support.
Smooth brushes, almost like PaintTool SAI. Includes "cell animation". Ultra light, loads in 1 or 2 seconds on my computer.
It has almost functions as does Sai.
