Adobe Photoshop is an image editing and design software developed by Adobe Systems. It is used by graphic designers, photographers, and other professionals to create, edit, and enhance digital images. It can be used to combine multiple images into a single composition, draw and paint graphics, retouch photographs, and create graphics effects. With Photoshop, users can apply various effects and transformations to images, create 3D artwork, and edit videos. It also offers a variety of advanced tools for image manipulation, selection, and color adjustment. Photoshop also includes features for designing user interfaces, web graphics, and animation. Photoshop is available as a desktop application, or as a web-based app.
Free, feature rich, good performance, lots of tutorials, anything missing can be covered with an add-on. The best for free software.
The technology in GIMP really is stellar. There are tutorials all over the web to accomplish just about anything you can imagine. Photoshop is great software, no doubt. But with their move to cloud licensing, GIMP is much more appealing. I highly recommend GIMP.
GIMP es una plataforma potente, pero bastante liviana para la edición general de imágenes. Se ejecuta en muchas plataformas, incluidas algunas distribuciones de Linux poco claras.
I don't understand the hype that GIMP is the most powerful alternative to Photoshop? The filters are of poor quality and the interface is a piece! There are many more and better (!) alternative applications that are a real alternative to Photoshop, like Krita or MediaBang. Everyone should bookmark more than one, rather than GIMP, before telling the Internet that GIMP is the best alternative ... because it is not! (But there are some...)
It takes less time to manage and update and, of course, is more affordable, and can be supported by free will and capacity through donations or other contributions and participation, rather than forced updates and expensive subscriptions where users have no say in where the future (or money) goes.
GIMP and its plug-ins cover 95% of most users' photo editing needs.
se dice que es software libre; tiene la Herramienta de rutas en la que funciona perfectamente para crear dibujos complejos con un periférico de mouse en una computadora de escritorio;
A complete alternative to photoshop - and it's free!
Too complicated to use, poor user interface / UX
A good program, but the menus are not intuitive, and the startup is a bit slow.
Version 2.8: Web graphics design rather than image manipulation. Pen support is faulty, can't press to be recognized. Slow to load on Windows 10. Zoom: can't use mouse scroll wheel, limited to 800% makes it difficult to work with small icons. Vectors: does not load PSD vector layers, converts SVG pasted and copied to raster. I didn't evaluate further as I gave up at the time. I did notice that it has good support for multiple resolution .ico files.
The best free, feature-packed and powerful PS alternative.
It's free. For the basic operations I do I don't want to pay that much.
I'd prefer to use Photoshop but I'm on Linux, so I'm not going. GIMP is free and packed with features, but Photoshop is way ahead in terms of ease of use and experience. GIMP does everything I need, it just takes more time and is not as intuitive as Photoshop.
Krita is new and looks more like photoshop. It is still under development.
It doesn't support CMYK, or if it does, I couldn't find it and looked hard. Also, despite my best efforts, I couldn't select more than 1 layer at a time (without creating a group and putting all layers in that group) and working with text was incredibly laborious.
Gimp is powerful almost like Photoshop.
This is the best you can use in linux.
As close as you can get to Photoshop is free. The user interface isn't great, but in terms of functionality it's almost perfect. Great alternative.
It is very easy to understand and use, it also offers many filters and effects, the vector tool is easy to use and offers many predefined brushes to get you started. This is my favorite program for making art because of its simplicity and convenience, I am pleased to say that this is a very good alternative to Adobe Photoshop.
It has almost all the features and is available on all devices.
I have used Gimp for years. I used Adobe and Correl, but Gimp does what I need, and why pay hundreds of dollars for something that wasn't as good or worse in some ways.
Completely free with many plug-ins.
Gimps is very basic ... not for Adobe Photoshop
GIMP is best as a painting software, and quite bad for photo manipulation.
GIMP can't do anything as complex as Photoshop.
It is the closest photo editing software to Photoshop.
First of all it is free. It has many plugins, for example, the best tool to work on .dds files. In Photoshop it needs a nvidia plugin that does not work well. It has a clone stamp in perspective.
Gimp is the best photo editor, and Photoshop doesn't compare with its flaws.
is all you want. You just need to know how to edit with it and you're done! No money is spent!
Open source, unique features and tools, and it's free. I've achieved much better results with Gimp, thanks to its flexibility. Oh, and it doesn't "sync" your personal photos to the "cloud" under the guise of creative connectivity and unity, LOL. Did I mention you don't have to pay a $240 annual fee?!
It does not work directly on CMYK images nor does it save them in this mode. It also prioritizes its own file format rather than working directly with other file formats instead of "exporting" them, which makes GIMP not as practical as Photoshop for multiple files at the same time. The interface also takes up too much screen space and some tools do not have obvious shortcuts.
I was working with PS since v1.3! Since the Creative Cloud versions started, they don't offer more quality, so I was looking for an alternative to PS, like Paint.net. I compared MyPaint, Pixlr, GIMP, Krita and some more, but Krita was the best for me. Easy to switch from PS, no unstable application, can read PS files and supports privacy by default (a big problem with PS and Pixlr).
It's a bit more intuitive to use than GIMP (which is also a brilliant PS alternative) in terms of interface, and it supports CMYK out of the box if you need it. As of version 3.1 it has fairly advanced support for animation, including opacity curves (GIMP completely fails in that area, animating anything is a major PITA in it).
Clean user interface and easy to use. I don't think it's as refined as GIMP but it's still an excellent alternative.
While I like GIMP, this design is much simpler and easier to use.
Much easier to use than other PS alternatives and quite intuitive.
If you are looking for a (free) alternative for digital drawing and painting, here it is. Better than Photoshop in this sense: I don't touch Photoshop for drawing and painting anymore, only Krita and ClipStudio.
Excellent UX design interface, non-destructive image manipulation. Superior graphics tablet integration makes it a better alternative to Photoshop for artists.
Krita allows you to make drawings and animations with great quality and it is also FREE. KRITA4EVER
Krita is the best alternative for digital illustrators. The intuitive interface offers options that even Gimp doesn't have, such as the layer effects available in Adobe Photoshop. However, it's not all flowers, Krita text tools are still missing. My recommendation is to use Krita and Gimp together according to the nature of your project.
Krita has completely replaced Photoshop for me. It is intuitive, responsive and feature rich. As a professional photo editor and illustrator, it includes all the features I use frequently such as cloning, filter layers (similar to adjustment layers), transparency masks, warping tools, and a robust brush editor. It looks especially good in the KDE desktop environment.
It's basically the same. Same tools and interfaces.
Lightweight, similar interface.
Best for painting, worst for photo/image manipulation (that's where Gimp comes in)
It is one of the few programs with airbrush. The only quarrel I have is the color picker. I prefer the custom color picker/custom color designer style in Paint. Otherwise, Krita just boogies along. Best free art program I've found, between it and IrfanView. I'm golden
Krita's approach is to paint rather than manipulate the photo.
While I prefer GIMP for graphic design, Krita is the best alternative to Photoshop for digital painting.
Powerful layer-based drawing with tablet support, and a variety of supported brush styles and formats.
MUCH better UI than GIMP or PAINT.NET
Stylish design, many useful resources, ergonomic user interface, it really is the best free photo editing software I've used. However, I only used it for digital drawing, so I don't know how it works for other purposes.
Brushes, functionality, and it's free.
Krita is a painting application, it doesn't actually edit photos.
I think, now that it is Windows compatible, it is an excellent alternative to Photoshop. There are a variety of features that you can find in both Photoshop and Photo, which share most of the key functions. Affinity's design is beautiful as well.
It's subscription-free, and Affinity keeps adding new features, which don't require a paid upgrade. I'm hooked.
I love Gimp for what you get for free. But the best paid alternative without subscription software or simplified PS Elements. Affinity Photo is a good deal, and an excellent alternative to Photoshop. I only see this getting better over time and now it's on Windows. Pencil support (default settings) could be better but workable.
One-time payment, low price, can do almost anything Photoshop can do, often better! Frequent updates, many free tutorials online ... Excellent team that answers any questions on the forum. Not the best alternative to Photoshop, Photoshop is a good alternative to Affinity Photo.
It does what I need most and does not force me to rent.
Very good user interface, not expensive and gets the job done
One-time payment. Good tool. Very similar to Photoshop
90% of the same features as Adobe Photoshop. The other 10% are tools that are rarely used. Save your money, buy this cheaper alternative.
It's usable! Everyone keeps recommending GIMP, which is (if you're used to Photoshop) horrible in its usability for creative work. Affinity Photo can keep up with Photoshop and is much cheaper!
Functional, very inexpensive, great user interface
No subscription - One-time payment.
Similar interface logic and keyboard shortcuts, excellent support for reading psd files. Almost 95% of PS abilities, but without the subscription fees.
The best features and interface of all other Adobe PS alternatives
Complete, easy to use, actively developed and inexpensive!
Affinity is the closest software to Photoshop. With a direct import for PSD files and the simple "Persona" system, it is the best solution with a low price.
Interface. Cost. iPad availability.
It has many of the features of Photoshop, but it's free!
Free to use. Great application with a simple user interface.
It doesn't have many features like Photoshop, but it's great!
A lot of features similar to Photoshop and is free to download from the website. It can also be purchased from the Windows Store if you want to support the developer that way.
I use it and to facilitate the work it is enough.
The scope of the IT feature is limited. It is PAINT after all, what do you expect?
For the simple editing I do to prepare photos for email and the web, Pixelmator is perfect. You can crop (including restricted cropping), resize, and make all the essential color/brightness/contrast/levels adjustments. And the best feature of all, it has a magic healing brush to remove blemishes.
For simpler uses than Photoshop, it starts and stops much faster. If I want quick editing (e.g. Crop, Contrast and Saturation), it goes much faster.
The fact that Pixlr is browser-based is great in places like school where GIMP cannot be installed.
It has many similar features and is also easy to gain access to, as it is free and available online.
No installation Easy to use A lot of tutorials Lots of tutorials Working with layers
Lighter in features but much easier to use. It is web-based, loads easily and does not overheat your machine. It has all the basic PS functionality.
Photoshop Lite, but it's great for simple things. Browser based is super nice.
Photopea is great for quick photo editing on the fly! I love it about PIXLR, which is good for what it is, but it's more for filters than a real Photoshop imitator. Photopea is definitely Photoshop light and browser based, it's very easy to use anywhere! I scrolled the whole page down to show Photopea some love! It's surely a loser!
The most important thing to consider in choosing Photopea is its versatility: I mean, since it's an online alternative to Photoshop, you can use it directly on your laptop or tablet via browser, or even on your phone. It can read PSD files in their entirety, import new fonts (with some of them installed by default), Photoshop brushes, etc. I totally recommend it!
It's the optimized, free, on-the-go version of photoshop - what's not to love?
Very similar user interface and shares so many fetures with photoshop!
Edit PSD from the web. It is much better than the other software alternatives.
It has the best PSD support of any program I've tried. Plus, it's a web application so you can use it regardless of your operating system. Other than that, it's free and quite fast.
Discontinued The last stable version was in 2015. See https://pinta-project.com/pintaproject/pinta/releases/1-6
It does almost everything PhotoShop does, and easier. All toolbars are easily customizable, you can save scripts and add them as toolbar buttons, and they're inexpensive to get started!
It is commercial but cheap. It is an old Jasc software, easy to use and understand. Very powerful.
A good price / quality. I also use GIMP, but it is cumbersome. I think Corel should invest in porting it to Linux.
MyPaint is only a drawing program, but it cannot edit images. Adobe Photoshop can do both.
Corel Photo-paint and CorelDraw work very well with Corel Painter and Paint-shop Pro. Almost everything is covered, there [High-end full-body textile design should be just around the corner]. Timeless licenses also make CorelDraw the clear Winner.
Simple, no layers, but brushes are available. Cheap, light and easy to use for your machine resources. Even as a professional, I use Photoscape for a first review of my photos.
Good for newbies, before learning Photoshop, use this software first :)
The free version is the most capable offline editor available on Chromebook. Excellent masking tools in paid version.
It has quite similar tools and the results look as good as in PS.
Very fast and light, but still powerful with great features. Doesn't take long to load for fast edits.
In my opinion, it provides the most intuitive way to edit photos.
This is a great Mac application
Although PhotoLine doesn't cover all aspects of Photoshop, in terms of raw image editing, nothing else comes close.

It's probably the closest alternative to Adobe Photoshop, at least of the ones I know. For me personally, it's too complicated, but if you know how to use it, you can do a lot of things that you can also do with Photoshop. What I also noticed is that it loads very quickly on Linux.
