Procreate also offers a variety of layer-based editing tools, including a layer lock and masking, as well as sophisticated texturing tools, such as a noise generator and a color smudge tool. Procreate also has powerful animation tools, such as onion skinning and timeline playback, allowing users to create dynamic animations with ease. Procreate is an ideal app for professional illustrators, concept artists, character designers, and comic book artists, as well as anyone who enjoys creating art on the iPad.
The open source application beakon.
It works smoothly and has a wonderful range of brushes for all kinds of art (as an animal artist, I love the bristle tool!). The brush strokes are smooth and the program works really well with Wacom tablets. The interface is quite simple and even if you are locked out, there are docs and tutorials on the internet. A brilliant tool, I would recommend as an excellent free computer alternative to Procreate for all kinds of artists :)
Free, open source, and full of features. While it may be focused for Desktop on iOS, it is available for all systems (Mac, Windows and Linux/Unix), is quite fluid and, depending on your system, could work very well, especially with a digital drawing tablet from Wacom, Ugee, etc.
You can do almost everything you would do with Procreate. However, shading is a bit more difficult, but you can do it after some practice.
For me, a great set of brushes, easy to use and cool tools, like merging layers, etc. Also, the complete and beautiful design of the whole software makes it really easy to learn.
I've tried Medibang, but it's not that good because it doesn't have very good brushes.
Absolutely favorite drawing app, the only drawback is that you can't use community brushes.
Intuitive interface, fast and cool brushes. Also free.
It's a good alternative, but it may not have as much chance as Procreate did.
Simple download, simple design, easy to learn, but still has enough depth and options for a skilled graphic designer or artist. The simple and straightforward interface makes it easy to learn, downloading is quick and simple. However, you have to create an Autodesk account, but the advantage is that you can use all other Autodesk programs with that account.
Nice menu, wish the custom brush creation option was a little easier, like a template to create your own brushes, blur tool, eraser brush, etc.
File formats, etc., etc., garbage compared to procreate ...: /
PaintTool SAI is easy to use, has amazing brushes and, overall, a neat layout
It is very similar, working, drawing and brushes are more realistic than Sketchbook.
The full desktop version IS available from ArtRage (and also offers lighter versions for iPad and other tablets and phones). * Richness of textures: even if printed in flat 2D, it provides a sense of thickness of oils and other media, and grain. * Affordable and no need to renew license annually: full ownership for life.
Discontinued The project seems to be no longer developed. The latest version, 2.0, released in August 2013, can still be downloaded from GitHub.
I find the application ideal for working on iPhone
I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who hasn't used Procreate. However, ibis Paint X is very good overall and has a good selection of brushes and options to change them, which to me is very important. One thing I found interesting in Procreate was the time lapse feature which can also be used in ibis Paint X. There is a lot more to say about ibis Paint X, but I really like it, it just has a lot of options to use.
It also has several types of brushes.
Tons of great features, albeit a bit of a delay.
