iMovie is a video editing software application developed by Apple Inc. for macOS and iOS devices. It was originally released in 1999 as part of the iLife suite of digital media management applications. It allows users to create and edit movies from both captured video and existing media, such as photos, music, and sound effects. It also features a wide range of editing tools, including transitions, titles, and effects. Additionally, users can share their projects with others via the iMovie Theater feature, which allows users to view their movies on any Apple device. iMovie also allows users to upload their movies to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and other social media sites.
Avidemux is excellent as a quick cutting and conversion tool, but it is not a full-featured video editor.
Simple to cut existing movies. Saving/exporting is extremely fast.
Lacks the ability to easily select part of a source video.
Intuitive ... has slightly better offerings for transitions, etc.
iMovie is an all-time free video editing program, but even though Sony Vegas Pro (and all its versions) have a free trial version, you have to buy it at the end and it's really expensive.
Discontinued The project seems to be no longer developed. The latest version, 1.10.4.35491, released on October 27, 2013, can still be downloaded from SourceForge
The discontinuation of Windows Movie Maker is no longer updated and is no longer supported by Microsoft. The latest version, included in https://alternativeapp.info/software/windows-live-essentials/ 2012, can still be downloaded from winaero.com. It is fully functional under Windows 10 as well.
Very easy to use. It has many features.
This is very good because it is free and can be easily rewound to transition and has many more options than any other application listed.
I feel it doesn't have the same level of power as the others, and is being falsely advertised. To get any functionality with it, you have to spend money.

Familiar interface and a full-featured application that can replace imovie for users who do not have access on non-Mac platforms.
