Google Allo is a communication and security app developed by Google. It allows users to communicate with their contacts through text, audio, and video messages, as well as share images and videos. The app also offers a range of security and privacy features, such as end-to-end encryption, secure connections, and private messaging. Allo also includes an Incognito mode where messages sent and received are encrypted and self-destruct after a set time limit. It also allows users to block contacts, set custom notifications for specific contacts, and restrict who can see their profile information. Google Allo also has a built-in artificial intelligence chatbot called Google Assistant, which can answer questions, provide information, and make recommendations.
Some instant messaging applications work in mainland China, one of them is wickr.
Discontinued empathy is not currently maintained. The latest version, 3.25, released in August 2017, can still be downloaded from the official website.

Allo is tied to your phone number, and even needs your phone to use the web version. Hangouts is tied to your Google account, so it's portable and works well on any device. Also, video is split from Allo into Duo, but Hangouts incorporates both, plus SMS and phone calls.
