CipherShed is an open source, free encryption software designed to secure files and folders on computers, external hard drives, and USB sticks. It uses the AES encryption algorithm and can be used for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. CipherShed creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and then mounts it as a real disk. This ensures that all data stored on the encrypted disk is protected from unauthorized access. CipherShed also supports the use of keyfiles and multiple encryption algorithms, allowing users to choose the level of security that best suits their needs. It supports full disk encryption, as well as individual file and folder encryption. Moreover, it provides a secure delete feature that completely erases sensitive data, making it impossible to be recovered.
