Synaptic is a free, open-source graphical package manager for Linux and Unix-like operating systems. It provides a user-friendly interface for managing packages, including search, install, upgrade, downgrade, and removal. It also allows users to view detailed information about packages, including a list of dependencies, package size, and the corresponding source code. Synaptic also includes a wealth of other features, such as the ability to easily group packages into categories, which can be used to simplify package management. Synaptic also offers a search feature to quickly locate packages by keyword. Finally, Synaptic allows users to easily download and install packages from a variety of different sources, including local repositories, remote repositories, and even the Internet.
While Chocolatey feels similar to the dpkg package management system, it is Windows-only, and Synaptic is Linux-only, so you cannot use them on the same systems.
