Description

PirateBox is a free and open source application that enables users to set up their own private and anonymous file sharing network. It is designed to be portable and run on low-cost hardware such as a Raspberry Pi, a USB drive, or an OpenWRT compatible router. It creates a self-contained, local area network (LAN) where users can exchange files and messages without the need for an internet connection. The PirateBox software includes a web interface which allows users to browse for and download files, as well as upload their own files. The web interface also includes a chatroom and a forum for users to communicate. All of the data is stored locally on the system, and the PirateBox is not connected to the internet, so it is secure and private. The PirateBox also has a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot so that users can connect to it without the need for a router or any other hardware. PirateBox is a great way to share files with friends or colleagues without worrying about security or privacy. It is also a great way to set up a secure local network for educational or work purposes.
