Metapad is a lightweight text editor for Windows operating systems. It has been designed with an intuitive interface that is easy to use and navigate. Metapad supports syntax highlighting for a variety of programming languages, and users can customize the look and feel of the editor with a variety of skins. It also features auto-indent and auto-complete, drag-and-drop functionality, and a built-in spell checker. Additionally, users can access various useful functions such as searching and replacing text, block indent and unindent, and auto-conversion of case. Metapad also supports multiple document tabs for easy switching between documents, as well as a macros feature for automating common tasks. Metapad is free and open source, making it perfect for those looking for a powerful, yet lightweight text editor.
Evernote is for recording, storing and organizing text and images. Evernote is for creating free-form databases. Metapad is a replacement for Windows Notepad. Metapad is for editing text files. You are comparing apples and oranges. You couldn't create a free-form database with Metapad without littering your disk with thousands of individual text files. I don't think there is a way to simply edit a standalone text file with Evernote, that's not what it's designed for.
