IPOP (IP-over-P2P) is a software framework and distributed virtualization technology that enables users to create and manage virtual private networks (VPNs) and peer-to-peer (P2P) networks over the Internet. It was developed as an open source project under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and is designed to provide secure and reliable communications between two or more computers over the Internet. IPOP utilizes the existing Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure to provide secure and reliable communications. It allows users to set up virtual private networks (VPNs) in which two or more computers can communicate securely over the public Internet. The software also provides a secure connection between two or more computers, allowing them to share files, applications and other resources. IPOP also includes a distributed virtualization technology that enables users to create and manage virtual private networks (VPNs) over the Internet. This technology allows users to securely connect two or more computers in a virtual private network, without the need for a dedicated server or hardware. In addition to file sharing and other P2P applications, IPOP can also be used for distributed gaming, remote desktop access, and other applications requiring secure and reliable communications.
Discontinued The project is no longer being developed. The latest version, 0.8, released in December 2010, can still be downloaded from SourceForge.
