InsomniaX is an OS X utility application that allows users to prevent their computers from going to sleep. It does this by disabling the system idle timer, thus preventing the Mac from going to sleep, dimming the display, or starting the screen saver. The app is designed to be easy to use and allows users to quickly and easily override the system's sleep timer. It also has a variety of advanced features, including the ability to set a custom sleep timer, allow certain applications to keep the system awake, and to automatically re-enable the sleep timer when certain applications are closed. Additionally, it provides a number of options and settings that allow users to customize the behavior of their system when it is prevented from going to sleep.
