Hashdeep is a free and open source tool for computing and verifying cryptographic hashes. It supports a wide range of hash algorithms such as MD5, SHA-1, SHA-2 (SHA-256, SHA-512, etc.), Tiger, Whirlpool, and Skein. It is designed to be used for forensic investigations and security auditing. It can also be used to verify the integrity of files, detect data corruption, detect tampering, and generate hashes for file comparison. Hashdeep supports recursive mode for scanning an entire directory tree, and it can also generate detailed reports. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
