GAP (Global Access Program) is an initiative launched by the United Nations to bridge the digital divide. It aims to provide free or low-cost Internet access to people in developing countries and to provide access to knowledge, information, and communication tools. GAP works with local partners to build and maintain a network of public Wi-Fi hotspots, which provide free or low-cost access to the Internet for underserved communities. GAP also works with local governments, civil society organizations, and academic institutions to develop awareness and educational programs around the use of the Internet, as well as to provide technical support and training to local communities. GAP also provides funding to support local initiatives and projects related to Internet access and usage.
