4pane is a free and open-source file manager for Linux, FreeBSD and other Unix-like systems. It is designed to be a powerful, yet easy to use file manager. Its interface is similar to that of the popular Windows program, Total Commander. It provides the user with the ability to view, edit, copy, move, delete, and search through their file system. It also allows users to perform basic file operations, such as renaming, archiving, and setting file permissions. 4pane also provides an easy to use directory tree view and a built-in text editor. Additionally, it allows users to view and edit images, as well as play audio and video files. 4pane also has a built-in FTP client and a powerful command line interface, allowing users to quickly and easily manage their files from the command line.
