En VMWare Fusion 4 y Parallels Desktop 7, ahora se admite oficialmente la ejecución de Mac OS X en una máquina virtual. Anteriormente podías hacer esto con Virtualbox (más o menos), pero no había soporte oficial para eso, por lo que el proceso fue realmente complicado y no funcionó demasiado bien. Por otro lado, la instalación de OS X en VMWare Fusion 4 es totalmente indolora. Todo lo que necesitaba hacer para instalar Lion con VMWare era seleccionar InstallESD.dmg en el nuevo indicador de la máquina virtual. (InstallESD.dmg es una imagen de disco de Lion que se puede encontrar haciendo clic con el botón derecho en la aplicación del instalador de Mac OS X Lion, haciendo clic en "Mostrar contenido del paquete", y yendo a Contenidos-> Soporte compartido). El instalador Lion se inició sin problemas, el sonido funcionó de manera predeterminada, e incluso hay herramientas VMWare disponibles para OS X que aumentan la resolución de la pantalla.
