Description

Tropico is a construction and management simulation video game developed by PopTop Software and published by Gathering of Developers in April 2001. The objective of the game is to stay in power as the ruler of a tropical island by balancing the needs of the population, the demands of competing political superpowers, and the need to keep your own pocket lined. Players can choose to be a benevolent or malevolent dictator, and the game features a range of political and economic options such as setting up a communistic or capitalist economy, or banning or encouraging organized religion. The game also features a wide range of buildings, vehicles, and citizens, as well as a variety of natural disasters and disasters caused by the player. The game also features a campaign mode, where the players take the role of a fictional president of a Caribbean island and must complete a series of objectives over a set period of time. Tropico also features a sandbox mode where players can build their own island without any specific goals.
