Spore is a life simulation game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It was released in 2008 for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and iOS. The game allows players to create and control a variety of species in a continuous, evolving universe. In Spore, the player starts with a single-celled organism and by playing through five stages (Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space), eventually evolves the species up to its interstellar journey. Through each stage, players are able to customize their species with various parts and abilities, as well as interact with other species in the universe. The game includes creature-specific abilities such as swimming, running, and flying, as well as an in-game editor which allows players to customize their species in a variety of ways. Additionally, the game features an in-game currency system, which can be used to purchase items and upgrades, as well as an online component which allows players to play with and against other players in the same shared universe.
It is literally inspired by Spore, and aims to be everything the previous game wished it was.
