Sound Forge is an audio editing and mastering program created by Sony Creative Software. It is used to record and edit audio, create music, and master production. It comes with many features, such as multi-track audio recording, audio editing, effects processing, and mastering. It also features a variety of tools for creating professional-sounding audio, such as a powerful set of equalization, compression, and effects tools, as well as a built-in library of sound effects. Additionally, Sound Forge also provides a range of other features, including a non-destructive audio editor, a batch converter, and more. The program is available in both Windows and Mac versions.
I have burned many CDs with Audacity and so far it is the best audio editor for me.
It is free and has great features but lacks the most advanced ones.
It has the most usual sound forging functionalities (cut/select/normalize/) and supports VST effects. Last but not least, its interface is incredibly crisp and efficient.
Discontinued The program is no longer updated. The latest version, 1.0.14, released in November 2013, can still be downloaded from the official website.
It is an audio editor that does not try to be a multitrack DAW, it is more mastering or streaming focused.
Bundleware Just Bad Software / incredibly difficult to install without bundleware.
Very powerful, like Sound Forge, but its interface is quite complicated and not easy to use.
