Solid Edge is a 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software suite that enables users to create, simulate, and manage their design projects. It offers tools to design parts, assemblies, sheet metal, and castings, as well as tools for 3D printing and rapid prototyping. Users can create detailed 3D models of their designs, as well as perform simulations to test the performance of their designs. With its integrated components, users can easily manage design projects and collaborate with team members. Additionally, Solid Edge provides access to a library of parts, components, and materials that can be used to speed up design time and ensure accuracy.
Discontinued The project is no longer being developed. The latest version, 1.8.8, released in December 2014, can still be downloaded from the official website.
Discontinued Autodesk has discontinued its 123D line of applications and has consolidated features and workflow into Tinkercad, Fusion 360 and ReMake.Blog post: http: //blog.123dapp.com/2016/12/important-news-about-the-next -chapter
Just saying they are both CAD software doesn't mean much. AutoCAD and Solid Edge are completely different (parametric CAD vs. traditional CAD) and a more appropriate alternative would be something like (Autodesk) Inventor.
