Scilab is a free, open-source software platform for numerical computation, simulation, and scientific computing. It is developed and maintained by the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA) and the French National Institute for Applied Sciences (ENSEEIHT). It is designed to be an interactive, user-friendly environment for scientific and engineering calculations, featuring a wide range of numerical methods, and providing powerful graphical capabilities for visualizing data. Scilab's main features include: numerical and symbolic computation, linear algebra, optimization, plotting and visualization, and a large set of toolboxes and libraries for specific applications. The software can be used for many tasks, such as modeling, simulation, optimization, data analysis, and visualization, as well as providing access to a wide range of scientific and engineering libraries. It is also used in educational settings, providing an interactive environment for teaching programming and numerical methods.
Discontinued The project seems to be no longer developed. The latest version, 2.7.10.0, released in June 2015, can still be downloaded from the official website.
