OpenContrail is a network and administration application designed to provide organizations with an easy to use and manage virtual network for private, public, and hybrid cloud computing. OpenContrail is an open source software-defined networking (SDN) solution. It is used to provide a unified view of the network, centralize network control and orchestration, and provide a programmable network infrastructure. OpenContrail is based on the OpenStack project and is integrated with OpenStack services such as Neutron, Heat, and Cinder. OpenContrail provides a comprehensive set of networking and security services, including layer-2 and layer-3 virtual networks, secured gateway services, network topologies, and distributed firewalls. It also supports network virtualization and provides policy-based automation and orchestration capabilities. OpenContrail can be deployed on-premises or in the public cloud and is available as an open source and commercial version.
