MATSim (Multi-Agent Transport Simulation) is an open source, Java-based traffic and public transport simulation tool developed by the ETH Zurich in Switzerland. It can be used to model and analyze a variety of transport networks and systems, from small-scale to large-scale, from urban to inter-urban. MATSim can be used to simulate the effects of various transportation policies and strategies on the environment, such as congestion, air pollution, noise, energy consumption and land use. It can also be used to simulate the performance of different transportation systems and their interactions with the environment. MATSim can be used to analyze and optimize transport systems and networks, to develop and evaluate transport policies, and to identify the most effective measures to reduce the negative impacts of transport on the environment. It can also be used to develop decision support systems for transport planning and management.
