KornShell (ksh) is a Unix shell and command language developed by David Korn at AT&T Bell Labs in the early 1980s. It is based on the Bourne Shell, but also includes a number of features from the C-shell and other shells. KornShell is often used as the default shell in commercial Unix systems, including AIX, HP-UX, and Solaris. KornShell is a high-level programming language that offers a wide range of features, including command-line editing, job control, command aliases, variables, functions, arithmetic expressions, and command-line completion. It is also well-suited for writing shell scripts, which can be used to automate complex tasks on a Unix system. KornShell is an extremely powerful and flexible shell, and is often used by sysadmins and developers for scripting and automation.
