Description

GTK+ (GIMP Toolkit) is an open source, cross-platform widget toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs). It is used primarily for the development of graphical applications such as those in the GNU Project, which is the most popular open source software project. GTK+ is written in the C programming language and is available for the Linux, Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. It is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). GTK+ provides a comprehensive set of graphical user interface components, such as buttons, menus, windows, and text boxes. It is designed to be extensible and can be used to create custom widgets and applications. GTK+ also provides a set of core libraries that provide functions to support building a graphical user interface. These include functions for handling events, drawing on the screen, and creating graphical effects. GTK+ is widely used for creating graphical user interfaces for desktop applications, as well as for web applications.
