Dead Space is an action-adventure, third-person shooter horror video game developed by EA Redwood Shores (now Visceral Games) and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2008. In Dead Space, players take on the role of engineer Isaac Clarke who battles an alien infestation aboard a derelict spacecraft known as the USG Ishimura. The game is set in a dark and oppressive environment and the player must use a combination of strategy and combat to survive. Players must use their wits to discover the secrets of the Ishimura while fighting off the Necromorphs, horrifying reanimated human corpses that have mutated into deadly creatures. Players can use an array of weapons and tools to survive, including a cutting tool and a plasma cutter. Dead Space also features an online co-op mode, allowing two players to team up to battle the Necromorphs. The game also features an online leaderboard, allowing players to compare their progress with their friends.
