Description

BIRD (the BIRD Internet Routing Daemon) is a free and open-source software application for managing Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and routing information protocols (RIPs). BIRD is a complete routing suite designed to handle large network deployments with complex routing policies. BIRD is designed to be a flexible and extensible routing daemon, capable of handling both static and dynamic routing information. BIRD supports multiple routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, RIP and others. BIRD also supports advanced features such as multipath, protocol-independent route redistribution, policy-based routing (PBR) and route filtering. BIRD can be used to build high-performance, secure and reliable networks. BIRD is also used to manage IP Multicast routing, IPv6 routing, network address translation (NAT), and quality of service (QoS).
