Anoncoin is an open source, privacy-focused cryptocurrency that was launched in 2014. It is based off of Bitcoin's source code with the added feature of providing a much higher level of privacy and anonymity for users. It does this by obfuscating the source and destination of transactions and providing users with the ability to mix their coins with those of others, making it difficult to determine the source of the coins. Anoncoin also offers quick and low-cost transactions and is fully decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by any central authority. It has a Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm, where miners are rewarded for verifying transactions and creating more coins. Anoncoin has its own blockchain, wallet, and mining software, and it can be traded on some crypto exchanges.
