Out of the decentralized and open source alternatives to YouTube, this is probably the best. It's being developed by Framasoft which is constantly doing amazing things.
Vimeo was the first site to offer full HD video online, they have some interesting monetization features and a clean interface. The best part is that the vimeo community is overwhelmingly creators and people who know what they're doing, so you won't find a lot of cat videos or untalented basement dwellers cluttering the site.

The fact that it has the old youtube 2006 like design and is much simpler in navigation. It also has the 5 star rating system that we all love.

What could be a better alternative to watching YouTube than watching YouTube without all the nasty Google spying? NewPipe brings exactly that to the Android platform. I'm very happy it exists. Use this instead of Google's YouTube app to avoid Google constantly monitoring what you like to watch.
NewPipe is not an alternative to YouTube, but to the YouTube Android app. It's packed with features that the official app doesn't have, while having fewer resources and no client-side spying.

DailyMotion offers good options to manage and monetize your videos. And it's not tied to Google, which is a good point in my opinion.
Dailymotion does not have the comment section on a video like Youtube and removed the live streaming option.

MediaGoblin is an open source project that can be hosted on any server. It is decentralized but a federation connects all servers together. And they don't use your data like YouYube / Google.

d.tube is youtube but without centralization and with cryptography exchanged as views IIRC. It has the best interface of any YouTube competitor and seems to have a business model that will pay off.

It's an application not a video website
It's not a good alternative to YouTube because the idea is to upload a video, get a link and share it. That's it. It doesn't have an interface where you can search for videos, etc. Basically, it doesn't have the "social networking" that YouTube has.
Unlike YouTube, which is a video sharing service, VEVO does not allow video uploading and sharing. The only videos on VEVO are music videos released under Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and Abu Dhabi Media. As such, it is not a viable alternative to YouTube.
VEVO is for music only and is not for everyone.
I like that it has all the vevo videos of music.
It is completely different and is VERY unreliable, I would only use it for short clips that are needed temporarily.
