Description

Xmodmap is a utility for modifying keymaps and pointer button mappings in the X Window System. It is used to customize the keyboard layout and mouse buttons, allowing users to define which keys or buttons produce which characters. It can also be used to assign new actions to keys and buttons, or to disable them. Xmodmap can be used to create new keyboard layouts, change the behavior of modifier keys (such as Control, Alt, and Shift), and to remap mouse buttons. Xmodmap is available on most Linux and Unix-like systems, as well as Mac OS X.
