Wicd (Wireless Interface Connection Daemon) is an open source network manager for Linux and BSD operating systems. It is designed to simplify the process of connecting to wireless networks and provide an easy to use graphical user interface to configure network settings. It is designed to integrate with the system tray, allowing users to quickly connect to a wireless network without having to configure any settings. Wicd also supports a variety of authentication methods, including WPA, WPA2, WEP, and 802.1X. It is also capable of automatically connecting to networks, as well as setting up a DHCP server in order to allow other computers to connect to the same network. Wicd is able to detect and connect to a variety of wireless networks, including IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, and IEEE 802.11n.
