Psiphon or Ultrasurf are proxies and will not work for my Steam client. You want a VPN for that. It's not really an alternative. You can use Psiphon to browse the web.

It is a browser add-on and TunnelBear is an installable VPN. A browser add-on does not produce any security at all.

The cost of VPN real money to operate, someone is paying the bill. If you are not paying it (Hello), it's not the customer, it's the product. If the VPN is 100% free, chances are there is a business model that includes your data. This might be fine for you, just make sure you're aware of it.
