Subtitles are a type of media file that allows users to add text to audio or video content in order to provide a translation or additional information. This type of media file is used to make content more accessible to viewers who don’t speak the language of the original audio or video, or to provide additional translation for viewers who do. Subtitles also provide additional context and information for viewers who are hard of hearing or deaf. Subtitles can be found in a variety of formats, including SRT (SubRip Text), SSA/ASS (SubStation Alpha/Advanced Sub Station Alpha), and VTT (Web Video Text Tracks). Subtitles are typically delivered via streaming services, DVD, Blu-Ray, or file sharing websites, and can be downloaded and added to audio or video content.
