SpinRite is a data recovery and maintenance application designed to help recover data from a variety of storage media and also improve the performance of hard drives. It can be used to diagnose hard drive storage problems, detect and repair hard drive errors and defects, diagnose and repair bad sectors, and restore data from hard drive crashes. SpinRite can also be used to optimize file system performance and even protect data from malicious software. SpinRite operates at the hard drive's own speed by bypassing the operating system and its file system, making it compatible with virtually any PC operating system.
Attempts to recover the bad sector and reads smart data. It is faster than SpinRite and gives you the option to select the part of the drive you want to scan or repair.
