SelfControl is a free, open-source application for macOS and Windows that helps users block their own access to distracting websites and applications. It works by allowing users to create a custom blacklist of websites and applications that will be blocked for a designated amount of time. During this time, users will not be able to access these sites or applications, even if they try to delete or modify SelfControl settings. SelfControl also allows users to set a reminder to help them stay focused on their task and to track their progress. Additionally, SelfControl also supports password protection, and can be used with any web browser.
It can be easily disabled. The new update, I was told by the developer, might change that though.(July 2017).
Discontinued The official website URL does not work and the Github source has not been updated for an extended period of time.
It's very simple and does its job. I just think the icon is a little weird.
Almost identical to SelfControl, it has no sophisticated features, it just blocks a list of sites for a selected period of time and displays a countdown until the period ends.
I really love it. The only thing they need to add is a whitelist feature.
SelfControl is for Windows, Freedom is not.
does exactly what autocontrol does on my Mac book
Discontinued Has compatibility issues with the latest versions of Android and iOS, and the developer does not respond or update to fix them.

It is a very nice application, but also very functional without unnecessary functions (as ColdTurkey has, for example).
