ScummVM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion Virtual Machine) is a free and open-source adventure game engine designed to be portable across many platforms. It is capable of running many classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, such as those created by LucasArts, Sierra, and Revolution. ScummVM provides an interpreter to run the games, which translates the game's scripting language into commands that the system can understand. It also provides graphics and audio plugins, so that the games can be run on different platforms with graphics and sound that are faithful to the original. ScummVM also provides support for save games, joystick and mouse support, game resizing, and other features. It is designed to be easy to use and runs on multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, AmigaOS, BeOS, Dreamcast, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, iPhone/iPod Touch, and Android.
