Description

Pigz, also known as Parallel Implementation of GZip, is a free and open-source, high-performance file compression and decompression tool and library. It is designed to be compatible with gzip and utilize multiple processor cores simultaneously for faster performance. Pigz can compress and decompress files and directories in the same way as gzip, but is capable of utilizing multiple processor cores in parallel to make it run much faster. It is available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows operating systems. Pigz can be used either as a command line tool, or as a library for developers to integrate into their applications.
