OpenNIC is a free, non-commercial, volunteer-run Internet service provider. It offers Domain Name System (DNS) services, as well as network access and other services such as proxy servers, chat services, and web hosting. OpenNIC provides users with a way to get online and access the web without having to rely on ISPs or other large companies. It also provides users with access to uncensored content and services that may be blocked or restricted by their ISPs. OpenNIC also offers a degree of anonymity, since its servers are distributed across the world. OpenNIC also offers users the ability to join its distributed network to help keep the network running and to help prevent censorship.
Norton ConnectSafe is more designed to protect you against malware on the Internet, while OpenNIC is designed to be an alternative DNS.
