Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) is a software virtualization solution from Microsoft that allows applications to be run on many different platforms and operating systems without being directly installed on the local computer. App-V works by creating a virtual environment for each application on the local computer and streaming it over the network to other computers. This virtual environment includes all of the application’s dependencies, such as libraries and configuration files, which are necessary for the application to run, but are not part of the application itself. This allows applications to run on different hardware and operating systems without having to be modified or re-packaged for each environment. App-V also allows applications to be deployed quickly and easily, as they do not need to be installed on each computer individually.
