McAfee Labs Stinger is a free stand-alone anti-malware application designed to detect and remove specific viruses, worms, Trojans, rootkits, and other malicious software. It scans for the most recently discovered threats and utilizes next-generation scan technology to detect and remove threats. Stinger uses next-generation scan technology, including rootkit scanning, to detect and remove the most complex threats. It is designed to quickly scan and detect threats that are currently in-memory or on your hard drive. It can also be used to scan specific files and folders. Stinger also includes a generic repair function, which can be used to repair some of the damage caused by these threats. Once the scan is complete, Stinger will display a report of any threats detected and the action taken to remediate them.
