Cumplir con las características de Legacy FTM es fundamental para cambiar usuarios de plataformas de alto valor a Linux. El argumento de que "incluso tus abuelos pueden usar Ubuntu" nunca será verdadero hasta que puedan hacer su genealogía con los mismos conjuntos de características a los que están acostumbrados. Los GRAMPS son los mejores que existen, pero a kilómetros de distancia.

No puedo decir por cuántos años he estado usando este software, pero ciertamente desde la versión 3. Lo encuentro potente y me gusta mucho la ventana principal. Entre varias funciones, buscar registros y etiquetarlos (con varias etiquetas) es realmente sorprendente. La versión gratuita no tiene límites. La versión de pago permite abrir y comparar dos genealogías juntas y arrastrar y soltar algunas personas (muy difícil de usar, ya que puede mezclar familias por error). El etiquetado de personas y su exportación a una nueva base de datos es muy útil. También uso Gramps en Linux, pero esas funciones de etiquetado y exportación son un poco menos eficientes.
