Description

Hostapd is an open-source software application used to enable an access point (AP) on a wireless local area network (WLAN). Hostapd is often used in combination with the Linux kernel-based operating system's Wireless Tools. It is designed to be a "host-based" access point, meaning that all the networking tasks are handled by the host computer, making it suitable for embedded systems. Hostapd can be used to create virtual wireless networks, allowing users to securely access the Internet, share files and other resources. It supports a variety of authentication schemes, including WPA/WPA2 and EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol), and is compatible with a wide range of wireless network hardware. Hostapd can also be used to manage virtual networks, allowing users to create multiple virtual SSIDs (Service Set Identifiers) for different purposes.
